An unjust man is abominable to the righteous and he who is upright in the way is abominable to the wicked.

Proverbs 29:27

Have you wondered lately why there is such stark division in our nation these days, even around the world? God states the reason quite clearly here in our key verse! And this isn’t the only place in the Bible where God describes the great divide between those who believe The Truth and those who reject Him outright. And though we can and must learn how to manage our lives in this temporary world, these two worldviews, there are really only two, simply cannot co-exist. 

It sounds good, to co-exist, but to do so one side or the other must set aside a piece or pieces of their worldview. It doesn’t seem a big deal to ‘give in’ some of what you believe, or are supposed to believe, in the name of peace and harmony and “live and let live”. But have you noticed that the unrighteous worldview (that’s our secular culture though they do not like being called unrighteous) doesn’t budge one iota from their worldview; which boils down to rejecting God as their King of Kings and Lord of Lords. They do not give up anything. But, they say, all we ask of the righteous is to “allow us to live as we please” then it is “tolerate us as we live as we please” and then it is “accept us as we live as we please” and then it is “affirm us as we live as we please” and then it is “ascent to the laws we create so we can live as we please…or else!” 

It is always, and I mean always, the church (purposely keeping that a lower case “c” here) that gives way to the unrighteous worldview inch by inch and all in the name of peace and harmony. God forgive us for the many compromises we have made just in my lifetime! We are so worried about not being called unloving, that we are abdicate The Truth at every turn. God commands to speak The Truth in love, not be loving without The Truth!

God is perfectly Truth and perfectly Love all together and all the time. We cannot master this at all without God through His son Jesus. And the loving truth is that each human must choose to which worldview they will cling. 

A person cannot both give some ascent to God and still kick Him out of the framework of humankind. God is not kicked out of anywhere by anyone! Look what happened to Satan when he tried to do that! Millions of humans think they have kicked God out of their lives or, at the very least, set Him aside. But that human effort does not eradicate The Creator. It simply, keeps the human in their “way of being unjust” in the sight of God and they will need to pay their own penalty for their unjustness. And that is a horrible place to remain, though they do not want to acknowledge even this, for many and sadly, until it is too late.

God pleads to the unjust, as we all were at one time, throughout the Bible. That is why God wrote the Scriptures, to plead with humans to return to Him and allow Him to restore us to relationship with Him and to become righteous through His Son Jesus. Isaiah declares God’s pleas beautifully.

Isaiah 55:6-8

Seek the LORD while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the LORD, and he will have compassion on him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, “declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.
