The exercise of justice is joy for the righteous,
Proverbs 21:15
but is terror to the workers of iniquity.
The execution of justice is not easy for us humans. Point one, we cannot even fathom True justice. Only the God of Creation, who is Justice, knows all that justice is and He also knows that His justice never changes. Which bring us to point two. Not only can we not fathom True justice; our human versions of justice changes throughout the ages and quite often it changes daily!
Little wonder that according to a recent Pew Research Poll, only 2 out of 10 of the American people trust our government and justice system! You can hear the collective groan throughout our country.
Proverbs 29:2
When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when a wicked man rules, people groan.
But, just because justice isn’t easy, doesn’t mean we aren’t to execute it when it is in our sphere of influence to do so. We have to exercise justice to be proficient in justice and enjoy the righteousness that reaches throughout that circle. How do we exercise justice? Most of us are not a royal or a president or a corporate CEO, or a lawyer or a judge, but we all have influence.
The definition of justice includes; right, rectitude, proper, fitting, the execution of judgement, the act of deciding a case and more. Even if we realize it or not, we choose every day whether to do these various acts of justice or not to do them. We choose every day whether to think on things that are right and proper and just. We choose every day to either discern with wisdom the events that rush before our senses 24/7 or to rush with mere human ingenuity to wrong conclusions. In these small and every day thoughts and decisions we either exercise justice or we exercise iniquity.
Luke 16:10
He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much.
As Christ-followers, when we are faithful in justice within our thoughts and emotions and daily actions others see this and see Christ in us even if they don’t know that is what they see. Over time and in God’s timing and in His purpose, we are given a platform to share the One who gives us the ability to live in The Truth and His righteousness.
Romans 12:1-2
Therefore, I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
