Truth Primer: God’s Armor

31 Days

It is also not good to fine the righteous,
nor to strike the noble for their uprightness.

Proverbs 17:26

The World’s war on God’s Truth and His children’s dedication to that Truth are described right here in our key verse.

Truth and Righteousness go hand in hand. You cannot have righteousness without Truth. Thus, the evil chaos we see played out every day. And when you have Truth…God’s Truth then righteousness is the only possible outcome!

Solomon’s father, King David knew this all too well.

Psalm 15:1-2

O LORD, who may abide in Your tent? Who may dwell on Your holy hill? He who walks with integrity, and works of righteousness, and speaks truth in his heart.

Psalm 119:142

Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Your law is truth.

Paul warns those described in our key verse who openly oppose who proclaim The Truth!

Romans 1:18

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.

Paul also provides in Ephesians the tools or battle gear Christ-bears must (not maybe) use to combat the spiritual battles that Satan throws our way. And, truly, our battles are spiritual; not flesh and blood. (Ephesians 6:12) A good thing for us to remember as we navigate these challenging times we live in. It is a great passage to read and memorize as a reminder that the battle gear given to us is from God! The hand in hand relationship between Truth and righteousness if clearly stated in the middle of God’s armor description.

Ephesians 6:14

Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS…

This piece of armor is what covered the vital organs of an ancient soldier. We call it bullet proof vests today. Standing firm in Truth and righteousness protects the very core of Who we are in Jesus! It allows us to take blows (fines and strikes) from those who oppose God and not only survive but to thrive in our spiritual battles.

Ephesians 6:10-11

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
