Truth Primer: False Justice

31 Days

He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous, both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.

Proverbs 17:15

Have you noticed that all of the ‘abominations to the LORD’ studied so far in Proverbs are being played out right in front of our very eyes in our western culture. And our key verse for today is another example of this!

Daily, even hourly, we read about and even watch in real time evil being glorified and cheered! And we see the righteous being condemned or in modern terms, canceled! I don’t think I even have to prove this point. These two abominations are flaunted in our world and seemingly gaining mainstream traction every day! Christ-followers can be overwhelmed in with hopelessness.

But God!

Isaiah 34:8

For the LORD has a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion.

Isaiah 35:4

Say to those with an anxious heart, “Take courage, fear not. Behold, your God will come with vengeance; the recompense of God will come, but He will save you.”

Yet, in His vengeance against those who propagate evil, God saves and protects His own! We do not need to fear those who condemn us as Christ-bearers. Our Hope is in Yahweh!

Isaiah 61:2

To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to grant those who mourn in Zion, giving them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So, they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.

Many Psalms affirm this truth, but Psalm 121 spoke to me today! I pray it gives you hope!

A song of Ascents.

I will lift up my eyes to the mountains: from where shall my help come?

My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber.

Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

The LORD is your keeper; the LOR is your shade on your right hand.

The sun will not smite you by day, nor the moon by night.

The LORD will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul.

The LORD will guard your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever.
